My operation from Christmas Island is coming to the end. Thank you to all friends who were calling me. Until next time…

The island is rather big for person without car. However I made few foot explorations and you can see some photos below:

Solar activity makes contacts very hard:

Food is very expensive on Christmas Island. For example 1 kg of tomatoes costs 21.50 AUD (14 USD) and 1kg of bananas costs 18.50 AUD (12 USD).

Similar to Lord Howe, tommorrow (25th September) I will change 15m antenna to 10m. Today afternoon (morning in Europe) is the last chance for SSB QSO on 15m band.

On 19th September, at about 12 UTC, already in dark, I finished 20m and 17m slopers and started to work FT8, mostly 17m and SuperFox FT8 mode for first few days.

I must thank Bernie W3UR for the invaluable help he provided with registering my callsigns inDXCC and LotW.

Zbyszek – ex ZL1BOU and Krzysztof VK6ACY helped me borrow a second radio IC706MK2G for SSB. I hope I’ll get used to it quickly.

I am finishing my stay on Lord Howe Island. After one week (from 19th September) I should be active from Christmas Island as VK9/SP9FIH.

Because SFI is as low as it is, I decided to make two changes: 20m is now working as 30m and 10m is now working as 15m. Enjoy !
